Advisory tool
Your application plan — counted back from the first day of class
Choose the term you want to start and where you are now. The tool counts back from the university deadline to give you a concrete schedule: when to take your English test, when to apply, when you need the I-20 and a visa appointment — and tells you straight away if that intake is no longer feasible.
US applications rarely fail for lack of ability — they fail for lack of time: an English test a month too late, an I-20 arriving at the last minute, visa appointments booked solid all summer. This tool counts back from A-State’s official deadlines (Fall 2026: Jun 1 · Spring 2027: Nov 1 · Summer 2027: Mar 2) and the real processing time of each step to build a personalized schedule. If the intake you chose is no longer feasible, the tool says so plainly and suggests the nearest realistic one rather than letting you find out when it is too late.
The plan is also emailed to you, and an advisor follows up within 1–2 business days to go through each milestone with you. Everything is free.

What the plan includes
English milestone
The latest date to take IELTS/TOEFL/Duolingo so the score is ready when you apply — or an ELA suggestion if that is not possible.
Application milestone
When to finish translations, submit the online application and the $50 fee so your file is reviewed early with time to add documents.
I-20 and visa milestones
The window for receiving admission, paying the $350 deposit, submitting proof of funds, paying the SEVIS fee and booking the interview.
Housing and flight milestones
When to reserve housing ($100 deposit), buy insurance, book the flight to Memphis, and the move-in date (Aug 15, 2026 for Fall).
Frequently asked questions
It is August 2026 — which intake can I still make?
The Fall 2026 deadline (June 1, 2026) has passed. The nearest realistic intake is Spring 2027 with a November 1, 2026 deadline — apply in September to leave time for the I-20 and visa. The tool confirms this and builds the schedule.
Does the tool handle graduate deadlines?
Graduate deadlines are set by each program. The tool uses “three months before the undergraduate deadline” as the safe mark; your advisor confirms the exact program date when following up.
What if I do not have a passport yet?
Apply for one now — it usually takes 1–2 weeks. A passport copy is needed with your application and is required for the I-20. The tool adds this milestone if you select “no passport yet”.
Does the plan change if I choose the ELA?
Yes. The ELA route removes the English-test milestone and offers more start dates during the year, but still needs 2–3 months for the I-20 and visa.
When should I start for Fall 2027?
Now is ideal: English test before December 2026, application in January–February 2027, I-20 before April and visa interview in May–June 2027. The tool builds the detailed schedule for you.
