Summer Study Abroad 2019 at Arkansas State University, USA

Experience American student life this summer with the summer camp program called: GLOBAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMER CAMP at the public university Arkansas State University. The program is organized by Arkansas State University for students ranging from 8th grade to recent graduates, offering a genuine opportunity to experience and immerse themselves in the outstanding educational environment of a university ranked in the Top 20 Best Public Universities in the Southern and Central United States.

Join fun and rewarding activities and exciting field trips with classmates from different countries, experiencing fascinating aspects of American culture and improving your English through an ESL course. The A-State Vietnam Office warmly invites parents and students to join the program.

Joining the Global Youth Leadership program, students will enhance their knowledge and develop skills through challenging and creative activities alongside American university faculty, community leaders, and heads of major businesses. Join fun and rewarding activities and exciting field trips with classmates from different countries, experiencing fascinating aspects of American culture and improving your English through an ESL course. Students will attend English classes in the morning, then study Global Business or Multimedia Communications in the afternoon.

Over 3 weeks, from June 9, 2019 through June 30, 2019 (not including travel time from Vietnam and transportation to the university)

CONTENT OF EACH COURSE IN THE SUMMER CAMP

English Conversation Practice Course – CORE PROGRAM

The Global Youth Leadership Summer Camp Program – English Conversation Practice Course is provided by Arkansas State University. Students will have valuable, academic, and effective English lessons taught by the university's own faculty. This is the core program, and students will choose one of the two elective courses below according to their interests and preferences.

Global Business Course – ELECTIVE OPTION 1

This course provides students with the most fundamental business skills, from finance and accounting to management, marketing, and sales. The program is designed to help students develop business ideas and gain essential knowledge distilled from the university's undergraduate business program. Students will have the opportunity to experience business and workplace culture in the city of Jonesboro and meet business leaders from Fortune 500 companies, such as Post & Unilever, as well as local business owners. Students will also have the chance to take part in a hands-on project by developing a business plan throughout the program, which they will present to a panel of judges made up of the aforementioned business leaders.

Multimedia Communications Course – ELECTIVE OPTION 2

Designed to introduce students to the media resources available at the university, this program focuses on developing skills in journalism, editing, and publishing for print, television, and online media. Students will have the opportunity to work with a variety of A-State's own media organizations, such as ASU-TV, The Herald, KASU, and Red Wolf Radio.

NOTES FOR STUDENTS

When registering, students must choose one of the three programs above. Students will follow the university's schedule: English classes in the core program in the morning, and their chosen elective (Option 1 or Option 2) in the afternoon. After classes, there are extracurricular activities. At the end of the 3-week program, students will receive a certificate of completion.
