Department of Art + Design Offers Limited-Edition Calendar Featuring Local Works

JONESBORO – For savvy gift-givers with an eye for art, a new option will be available this holiday season.

Arkansas State University's Department of Art + Design is offering a 2024 limited-edition calendar featuring 12 prints from local artists and art faculty.

“The Department of Art + Design is thrilled to introduce our annual limited-edition calendar. This collaborative effort will enrich our relationship with the community and allow us to expand our outreach programs,” said Dr. Temma Balducci, professor of art history and department chair.

“Proceeds will be used for our summer camps, community workshops and visiting artist program. Each year's calendar will feature works by different artists, so these will be collector's items.”

The calendar is designed so that the artwork is attached with tabs and can be easily removed, framed and hung without damaging the piece. They measure 11 x 12 inches closed and 22 x 12 inches open.

She added: “Two of our faculty members, Cody Scrivner and Jessica Lambert, worked with a variety of artists and spent many hours putting the calendars together.” “They did an amazing job.”

Scrivner added that one of the prints will be especially exciting for longtime supporters of the department.

Scrivner, a printmaking instructor, explained: “We are thrilled that Evan Lindquist agreed to be part of our inaugural calendar.” “Evan is a world-renowned printmaker and professor emeritus of Art + Design, and he was Arkansas State University's first Artist Laureate. His piece titled ‘Floaters’ is featured on the January page.”

The 2024 calendars are limited to 50 copies. You can pick up a finished calendar starting December 11 in Room 103 of the Fine Arts Center on the A-State campus. The sale continues through January 4 or until sold out on A-State's Marketplace, https://RedWolv.es/ArtCalendar2024.
