Learn@State to Take Place on Wednesday

JONESBORO – The Learn@State conference will take place during Faculty Appreciation Week, beginning at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 19.

Focused on recognition and assessment as well as the teaching and learning activities of A-State faculty and staff, the event will take place in the Centennial Hall of the Reng Student Union.

Kelli Listenbee, director of assessment, is part of a 10-person committee breathing new life into the conference, which began in 2016. The program was held online in 2021 but has been on hiatus since then.

"Learn@State is a small on-campus conference focused on recognition, assessment, teaching and learning. The presentations will provide engaging, action-oriented content, whether they give you a tool to implement in your own course or help you connect with a potential research colleague for future work," Listenbee said.

This year, Learn@State will partner with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to organize and present presentations related to this theme.

"Howler-Rounds are elevator-pitch-style presentations lasting four minutes, with a rolling clock and a 'howling' bell signaling participants to leave the stage if they run over time. It's fun to watch," Listenbee said.

Attendees can expect eight 20-minute oral presentations and 10 Howler-Rounds sessions to take place.

The program will take place following the faculty appreciation breakfast. The committee hopes that holding the event during Appreciation Week will highlight their gratitude to faculty and staff for their efforts in their respective fields across campus in support of recognition, assessment, teaching and learning.

No registration is required, and faculty are welcome to come and go according to their schedules. Learn@State will wrap up around noon with snacks and networking for attendees.
