First, determine which group you belong to so you can prepare the right documents:

• ESL-only: not pursuing a degree program concurrently; there is currently no minimum GPA.
• ESL + Undergraduate Freshmen: requires a minimum GPA of 2.3/4.0 on your high school transcript.
• ESL + Undergraduate Transfer/Post-Degree: requires a minimum GPA of 2.0/4.0 on your post-secondary/college/university transcript.
• ESL + Graduate: minimum GPA is determined by each department; only certain programs allow conditional admission through ELA.

Be sure to open the correct application form for international students and select the track that matches ELA.

• Use the International Application.
• If you're applying through the Vietnam Office, enter agent code: VNI as instructed so your application is reviewed under the policies for Vietnamese students.

You should still prepare the international applicant fee amount for your international application.

• Prepare USD 50 for your international application.
• This fee is non-refundable.
• It's best to complete this at the same time you submit your application to avoid delaying processing.

The academic documents you need to submit depend on the track you choose.

• ESL-only or ESL + Undergraduate: prepare your high school diploma and high school transcript, with English translations if needed.
• ESL + Graduate: submit your bachelor's degree diploma and transcript instead of high school records.
• If you are admitted using scanned copies, you should bring your official documents when you arrive on campus to avoid delays in registration.

This is an important part of the process that allows the university to move forward with the next steps of your international application.

• Prepare a bank balance/savings account confirmation letter in English from a bank or financial institution.
• Also prepare a Financial Support Letter if you have a financial sponsor.
• Request financial confirmation for an amount that safely covers the current tuition and living expenses for the term you plan to enroll.

Please attach a copy of your valid passport so your international application can be processed smoothly.

• Provide a clear, unexpired copy of the personal information page.
• The information on your passport must match the name used on your application.

This section should be updated according to A-State's latest guidance before you travel to campus.

• A-State requires 2 doses of the MMR vaccine if you have vaccination records.
• If you have a vaccination record or certificate, send it before departure; the document should be in English and include your name, the vaccine name, the dates administered, and the physician's signature.
• If you don't have MMR records or don't have complete records yet, you can still complete this after arrival.
• Whether or not you submit MMR records, international students will still need to complete a TB skin/blood test upon arrival.

If you're currently studying at another school in the US and want to transfer to A-State through the ELA pathway, be sure to complete the additional transfer forms required under current international student requirements.

ELA is a pathway that helps you continue your studies at A-State, but be aware of the completion standards required to use it in place of English proficiency scores.

• To use completion of A-State's ESL Program as proof of English proficiency for undergraduate (UG) admission, A-State currently requires a score of 80% or higher.
• For graduate (GR) admission, the current requirement is 90% or higher.
• For ELA + Graduate, be sure to also check whether the program you want to enter is among those that allow conditional admission.
