Graduate Student Jessica Tran Awarded Fulbright Grant to Teach in Vietnam

JONESBORO – Jessica Tran, a graduate student at Arkansas State University (A-State) from Crossett, has been selected as a recipient of a Fulbright grant for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Tran received the Fulbright U.S. Student program award for English teaching assistant work in Vietnam.
“I am very grateful to have been selected for this award, and I appreciate even more the continued support I have received from my Fulbright program advisor, mentors, friends and family,” Tran said.
Tran, who graduated in May with a master's degree in English, worked as a graduate assistant for the Writing Center and the Department of English, Philosophy and World Languages.
“When I received the award letter, I felt very proud and excited. Months of preparation and waiting finally paid off,” Tran added.
Tran will travel to Vietnam this fall. Her future plans are to become a faculty member or administrator in higher education.
She is the daughter of Lan Pham and Lam Tran, of Crossett.
Fulbright award recipients are selected through an open, merit-based competition that considers leadership potential, academic and professional achievement, and a record of service.
For nearly eight decades, the Fulbright Program has given more than 400,000 participants from more than 160 countries the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program is administered at A-State through the Emerging Scholars Program. For more details, you may contact Jennifer Salo, Fulbright Program advisor and director of the Emerging Scholars Program, at jsalo@AState.edu.
